Please follow the instructions found in gray (unless otherwise instructed by professor). When you are finished setting up your page, please delete the instructions including the video tutorials.

The following tutorial will show you how to: replace the image on your page and write an introductory paragraph.

When replacing your image, you can use one or more of your own images, or check out this gallery site with images that might fit on this page of your portfolio.

  • Write an Introductory Paragraph. This paragraph sets the context of this page for a viewer other than your instructor. Your instructor knows why you took this course and what you did in it, but others don't. Explain to other potential viewers (e.g., scholarship committees) things like when and why you took the course, what your thoughts were going into the course, what challenges you faced, and--most importantly--what work from the course you're putting into your portfolio.

Reflection

  • Put in Your Reflection. Reflection is your space to put your work in broader academic, personal, or real-world contexts, so don't be afraid to take some risks and think out loud about your own thinking and practice. Check out our reflection support page for ideas and inspiration. We encourage you to put the reflection prompt to which you are responding just above your reflection. Like this:

Reflection

Make connections between what you studied in this Political Science course with what you’ve learned in other courses at SLCC or before. Make specific references to your work in this class and in the other courses. How did what you learn in the other courses enhance what you learned in here, and vice versa?

It was complete serendipity that resulted in me taking an American Politics course the semester after I had just completed a Climate Change course. I've always been interested in why the United States has failed to make the policy changes needed to address...(and so forth)
