Hello, fellow students. My name is Jasmine Garcia, and my major is Environmental Geology. Before coming to SLCC, I had taken several honors and five AP courses, one which helped me fulfill my math requirements. I came to SLCC to get an associates of science, and I've enjoyed the courses I'm taking so far. I want to get a degree in Environmental Science with an emphasis in Geoscience, so I will be taking more Science than Math courses. The science and math courses I have been taking are preparing me for my geology courses at the University of Utah. As of now, I have taken all but one general course offered at SLCC. The ePortfolio I've created contains content from the Gen Ed courses that were required to take plus other courses and activities outside of class I'd like to share with every student. By looking at the content of my ePortfolio, I realized how important to create one.

In putting information of each Gen Ed course into my ePortfolio, I realized I've learned a lot from each course and I apply the skills learned from the courses into other courses, such as my geology courses. The ePortfolio is also useful in reflecting on the strengths and weaknesses that I had for each course. For instance, writing was difficult but I gradually improved the grammatical errors along with reducing the fluffiness of the papers I've written as a whole to make it more appealing to professionals. Overall, however, I like the ePortfolio in that it stores information about each course, such as the signature assignments, so that if I get lost or confused on a subject taught in other courses, I can look back and review what I learned from previous courses.
